AI for Business
Give your team back hours every week with Microsoft Copilot and practical AI, rolled out securely.
Artificial intelligence can take repetitive work off your team’s plate, help them find information faster and improve the experience your customers get. For most businesses, the fastest and safest place to start is Microsoft Copilot, because it works inside the Microsoft 365 apps and security you already have.
Reality Bytes helps you find where AI makes a real difference, gets your data and permissions ready, and rolls out Copilot, Copilot Cowork and other AI tools with the right licences, policies and training. We also build chatbots, process automation and analytics where they fit.

Copilot, explained
Microsoft 365 Copilot (now called Microsoft Copilot) is the AI assistant built into the Microsoft 365 apps your team already uses. It comes in three levels, and most businesses start with the one they already have.
Copilot Chat
Secure AI chat included with eligible Microsoft 365 business plans. Great for drafting, research and questions, with Microsoft's enterprise data protection when staff sign in with their work account.
- Mostly grounded in the web
- Works with files you upload or have open
- No extra licence
Copilot Business
The paid add-on for small and medium businesses on a qualifying Microsoft 365 Business plan. Copilot works with your own emails, files, meetings, chats and calendar.
- Grounded in your work data
- Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
- Researcher and Analyst agents
Microsoft 365 Copilot
The enterprise licence for larger organizations, with the same work-data grounding plus enterprise management, analytics and agent tools.
- For enterprise Microsoft 365 plans
- Agents, Copilot Studio and usage analytics
- Advanced governance with Microsoft Purview
Microsoft sets Copilot pricing and changes it often. Newer features such as Cowork, Code and Autopilot are billed by usage on top of a licence. Ask us for current pricing for your plan.
Copilot in the apps you already use
Outlook
Summarize long email threads, draft replies in the right tone and catch up after time away.
Teams
Meeting recaps, transcripts and action items, so nobody has to take notes and nothing gets lost.
Word
Draft, rewrite and summarize documents from a prompt or from your existing files.
Excel
Analyze data, build formulas and create charts by asking in plain language.
PowerPoint
Turn a document or a few ideas into a presentation, then refine it slide by slide.
Researcher and Analyst
Agents that pull together research across your work content and the web, or work through data for you.
Copilot Cowork
Hand off a whole piece of work, not just a single question.
Copilot Cowork is a Microsoft 365 Copilot agent, built by Microsoft with Anthropic, that takes on multi-step tasks such as pulling together a proposal or a month-end package from your emails, meetings and files. It works out a plan, shows you what it intends to do so you can approve or adjust it, then carries out the work in the cloud and returns the finished result, even if you close your laptop.
Cowork became generally available in June 2026. It runs inside your Microsoft 365 environment, respects your sensitivity labels, and is covered by audit, eDiscovery and retention. It is off by default: your administrator decides who can use it and sets spending limits, because it is billed by usage on top of a Copilot licence.
- 1Describe the task"Prepare the quarterly client report from last quarter's emails, meeting notes and the sales spreadsheet."
- 2Review the planCowork lists the steps and sources it will use. You approve or steer it.
- 3It does the workIt gathers, drafts and assembles across your apps, in the cloud.
- 4You get finished workA draft document or deck to review, edit and share.
Autopilot and Code
Microsoft announced both in September 2026. They are in early preview now, and we are tracking them so we can advise you when they are ready for everyday business use.
Autopilot
A Copilot agent you give a role and a goal. It takes on ongoing work on its own, like following up on threads, running recurring tasks and picking projects back up, with its own identity in your tenant and within the permissions, audit and governance your IT team sets. In limited preview; billed by usage.
Code
Describe a simple app, tracker, dashboard or automation in plain English and Copilot builds it, using the same technology behind GitHub Copilot. It runs in a protected sandbox and can be hosted inside your own Microsoft 365 environment. Rolling out to early-access customers first; billed by usage.
Why businesses choose Copilot
Copilot is built on the Microsoft 365 security and compliance you already rely on. That is its biggest advantage over standalone AI tools.
Works with your own content
Copilot uses your emails, files, meetings, chats and calendar through Microsoft Graph, so answers reflect your business, not just the internet.
Respects existing permissions
Copilot only shows people content they already have permission to see. Tidy permissions first, and Copilot follows them.
Not used to train AI models
Microsoft states that your prompts, responses and work data are not used to train its foundation AI models.
Enterprise data protection
Prompts and responses get the same contractual protections as your Exchange email and SharePoint files.
Labels, DLP and audit
Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels, data loss prevention, retention, audit and eDiscovery apply to Copilot activity.
IT stays in control
Admins decide who gets which features, which agents are allowed, whether web search and third-party AI models are on, and see usage reports.
Built-in safeguards
Protections against prompt injection and jailbreak attempts, plus Microsoft's Customer Copyright Commitment for generated content.
No new app to learn
It lives in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, so adoption is faster and training is simpler.
Grows with you
Start with Copilot Chat, add Copilot licences for the people who benefit most, then add agents as your needs grow.
Data sovereignty
Where your data is stored, where it is processed, and what Microsoft has committed to for Canada.
Data sovereignty matters to municipalities, law firms, clinics and any business with privacy obligations. Here is the honest picture, as Microsoft describes it today:
- Storage
- Copilot interaction data is covered by the same Microsoft 365 data-residency commitments as your email and files. For Canadian tenants it can be stored at rest in Canada, including Copilot Cowork prompts and responses.
- Processing
- Microsoft has announced in-country processing of Copilot requests for Canada, currently expected in 2027. Until then, some requests may be processed in data centres outside Canada.
- AI model choice
- Copilot can use models from Microsoft's partners, including Anthropic. Those models are not yet covered by in-country processing commitments. Your administrator can turn them on or off, though some features such as Cowork need them.
- Microsoft in Canada
- Microsoft has committed C$19 billion to Canadian cloud and AI infrastructure from 2023 to 2027, and a contractual commitment to challenge government demands for Canadian customer data where there is a legal basis to do so.
- Privacy law
- PIPEDA itself does not require data to stay in Canada, but provincial and sector rules can. You stay responsible for your own compliance. We help you review your settings against your obligations.
We review your data-residency settings, AI model options and permissions before anything is switched on.

AI for Business FAQs
What is Microsoft Copilot?
Microsoft Copilot (formerly Microsoft 365 Copilot) is the AI assistant built into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. With a Copilot licence it works with your own emails, files, meetings and chats, within each person’s existing permissions.
What is the difference between Copilot Chat and a Copilot licence?
Copilot Chat is included with eligible Microsoft 365 business plans and is mainly grounded in the web and in files you share with it. A paid Copilot licence (Copilot Business for organizations up to 300 users, or the enterprise licence) adds grounding in your work data and Copilot inside the Office apps.
What is Copilot Cowork?
Copilot Cowork is a Microsoft 365 Copilot agent, built by Microsoft with Anthropic, that carries out multi-step tasks for you. It shows its plan for approval, works across your email, meetings and files in the cloud, and returns finished work. It became generally available in June 2026 and is billed by usage.
What are Copilot Autopilot and Code?
Both were announced by Microsoft in September 2026 and are in early preview. Autopilot is an agent that takes on ongoing work like follow-ups and recurring tasks within IT-set permissions. Code builds simple apps, trackers and automations from a plain-English request. We will advise when they are ready for business use.
Is our data used to train the AI?
Microsoft states that prompts, responses and data accessed through Microsoft Graph are not used to train its foundation AI models, and that Copilot only shows people content they already have permission to see.
Does Copilot keep our data in Canada?
Copilot data can be stored at rest in Canada under Microsoft 365 data-residency commitments. Microsoft has announced in-country processing for Canada, currently expected in 2027; until then some requests may be processed outside Canada. Partner models such as Anthropic’s are not yet covered by in-country commitments. We help you review these settings against your privacy obligations.
How much does Copilot cost?
Microsoft sets the price. Copilot Business is a per-user add-on to qualifying Microsoft 365 Business plans, the enterprise licence is per user, and newer features such as Cowork, Code and Autopilot are billed by usage. Contact us for current pricing for your plan.
Do you train our staff?
Yes. We help your team learn how to use Copilot and other AI tools effectively and safely, and our eTraining library includes Microsoft 365 courses for managed clients.
